So meisterst du einen feminin-romantischen Stil

Verspielte Rüschen, feine Spitze, florale Muster – lassen diese Begriffe dein Stilherz auch höher schlagen? Für mich kann ich sagen: von meinem Kindheitstraum, Prinzessin zu werden, habe ich mich modemäßig wohl nie ganz verabschiedet. Nicht umsonst bin ich eine große Bewunderin von Kates und Meghans Outfits, aber ich weiche vom Thema ab. Ein klassisch femininer Stil mit romantischen Elementen ist so ziemlich das, was ich mir als Ziel für meine persönlichen Modepräferenzen gesteckt habe – je nachdem, wo er passt und wie alltagstauglich ich ihn abwandeln kann. Was es dafür braucht? Here we go:
Style = Lifestyle
Weit ausladende Ballkleider, delikate Spitze, elegante Pumps: so gerne ich in solchen Klamotten im Alltag herumlaufen würde, so wenig passen sie in meinen Alltag. Stell dir mal vor, in einer bodenlangen Abendrobe morgens um acht in der S-Bahn zu sitzen… Jeder Stil sollte also zu deinem Lifestyle passen, egal, ob du in der Stadt lebst und viel zu Fuß unterwegs bist, ob du regelmäßig reist oder pendelst, oder eher ländlich wohnst. Wenn du also Pieces findest, die deinem Style-Ziel entsprechen, frage dich, ob sie für dich im Alltag tragbar sind.
Ideale Inspiration
Verfolgst du eine bestimmte Stilrichtung, würde ich immer empfehlen, dir ein spezielles Stilvorbild für genau diese Art von Look zu suchen. Für romantisch-feminine Outfits ist Josie von Fashion Mumblr meine absolute Stil-Queen; besonders ihre drei “Romantic Lookbook”-Videos bringen mich ins Träumen (klick hier für 1, 2 und 3!). Auf Instagram inspiriert mich ansonsten Jordan mit ihren zauberhaften, farbenfrohen Kleidern genauso wie Onyi mit wunderbar verschwenderischen Vintage-Vibes. Instagram oder Pinterest helfen dir, mit zielgerichteten Hashtags deine Stilinspiration zu finden.
Pastell-Palette
Du ahnst vielleicht, warum ich den romantischen Look so liebe: Er ist die perfekte Variante, meine favorisierten Farben zu tragen. Puderrosa, Cremeweiß, buttriges Beige, gespickt mit warmen Cognac-Tönen, strahlendem Magenta und frischem Schneeweiß, das ist meine Farbwelt. Pastellfarben bilden die Basis und passen hervorragend zur Femininität des Stils. Ergänzt werden sie durch verspielte, florale Muster. Auf strukturierte Prints wie Karo oder Streifen genauso wie breite Schriftzüge oder Monogramme würde ich in diesem Stil verzichten.
Swing it, baby!
Alles, was die Silhouette locker-leicht umfließt, gehört ins Repertoire für romantische Looks. Cami-Tops, Midiröcke, Skaterkleider, Palazzohosen und Leinenshorts sind nur wenige Beispiele. Am liebsten betone ich mit solchen Pieces die Taille, sei es mit dem Schnitt, einem Gürtel oder high-waist Unterteilen. Schwingende, fließende Kleidungsstücke lassen sich hervorragend mit strukturierten kombinieren, zum Beispiel dieses Top mit akzentuierten Ärmeln. Verspielte Stildetails wie etwa Rüschen, Volants oder Schleifen sollten in Maßen eingesetzt werden – verbunden mit eher zurückhaltenden Pieces wird ein Look daraus. Als Materialien liebe ich für die romantische Stilrichtung zarte Stoffe wie Spitze, Satin, Tüll, eher alltagstauglich glatte Baumwolle, Leinen oder Feinstrick, Wild- oder Lackleder für Accessoires, im Sommer Stroh und Broderie Anglaise.
Vintage trifft Trends
Für mich macht den Romantic Style auch ein leichtes Vintage-Moment aus, das heißt Handtaschen mit Tragegriff, Midi- bis Maxiröcke, herzförmige Ausschnitte. Klar, nicht umsonst denke ich bei den Outfits an Prinzessinnen oder Glamour-Looks aus den 50ern. Allerdings trage ich Vintage am liebsten mit Trends, um moderne Kombinationen zu kreieren. Bestes Beispiel ist hier das Ketten-Layering: Ich trage die Perlenkette meiner Oma, jedoch zusammen mit einem Modeschmuck-Piece mit unregelmäßiger Perle. Organische Formen findest du momentan neben Schmuck auch bei Accessoires, zum Beispiel Gürtelschnallen, und sie eignen sich sehr gut, klassische Looks aufzubrechen. Den gleichen Effekt erzielst du mit trendgeleiteten Schuhen wie den Bottega-inspirierten Mules im Flecht-Design. Und nicht zuletzt bekommt dein klassisch-romantischer Stil mit modernen Materialien und Mustern, beispielsweise Glattleder, Tropen-Prints oder Batik, einen trendigen Twist!

Playful ruffles, delicate lace, floral patterns – does your fashion heart beat faster at hearing these terms? Personally, I have to admit that style wise, I never gave up on my childhood dream to become a princess. It’s not surprising that I admire Kate and Meghan for their outfits, but I digress. A classy, feminine style with romantic elements is what I aspire to in my personal fashion choices, depending on which occasions I can wear it to and how it can be adapted for everyday life. Style equals lifestyle
Voluminous ball gowns, delicate embroidered fabrics, elegant high heeled footwear: as much as I’d like to run errands dressed like this, this style doesn’t suit my lifestyle. Just imagine sitting in a commuter train at eight in the morning in a floor length evening dress… Every fashion style is supposed to fit your lifestyle, whether you live in a city and use to walk a lot, travel or commute regularly, or reside in the countryside. In conclusion: if you find any pieces that suit the goal you have for your style, always ask yourself if they will suit your lifestyle as well.

To pursue a certain style, look for your personal fashion icons that represent that kind of style and will help you to choose clothing pieces and combinations. When looking into social media, Josie from Fashion Mumblr is my number one style queen for dressing feminine and romantic. Maybe you got an idea why I love me a romantic look: it’s the perfect excuse to wear my favorite colors! Powder pink, creamy white, buttery beige, paired with warm tan shades, vibrant magenta, and crisp snow white, that’s my color palette. Pastel colors are the building blocks and perfectly suit the feminine side of this style. Complete your look with playful, floral patterns. I wouldn’t reach for check, stripes, bold lettering, or monogram print when aiming for a romantic outfit.

Your preferred silhouette for feminine looks is everything flowing and airy, such as cami tops, midi skirts, skater dresses, palazzo pants, or linen shorts, to name a few examples. I love to highlight my waist when dressed in rather loose fitted clothing, whether with a belt, hight waisted bottoms or just by the cut of a garment. Swinging skirts or otherwise voluminous pieces make a perfect combination with more structured ones, for example this top with accentuated sleeves. Girly style details like ruffles, tiers, or bows will make your look more interesting, however, they should be added in moderation, ideally paired with more simple, restrained items. When it comes to materials, a romantic style might incorporate delicate fabrics like lace, satin, tulle, something more plain like smooth cotton, linen or fine knits for everyday, suede or patent for accessories, and wicker and broderie anglaise for summer.
Vintage meets trends
For me, romantic style always means a touch of vintage, such as top handle bags, midi and maxi skirts, sweetheart necklines. It’s quite obvious why I’m thinking of princesses and 50s glamour looks when putting together these outfits. However, I like to mix vintage and trendy elements to create modern and en vogue looks. For example, here I decided to layer my grandma’s pearl necklace with a costume jewelry piece featuring an irregularly shaped pearl. At the moment, organic shapes can be found in jewelry as well as accessories, such as in belt buckles, and are a perfect addition to your outfit to break up classic looks. You’ll achieve the same effect with trendy shoes like Bottega inspired mules in a quilted or plaited design. Last but not least, you can use modern fabrics and patterns like leather, tropical prints, or tie dye to add a trend twist to your classy, romantic style!
