...und kreierst einen ausgesprochen eleganten Look! Ein waden- bis knielanges Dress hat für die kalte Jahreszeit nicht nur den Vorteil, dass es dich wärmt, sondern stellt – geschickt kombiniert – ein richtiges Fashion-Statement da. Das Geheimnis ist, das Volumen geschickt auszugleichen und interessante Eyecatcher im Look zu setzen. Wie das geht, verrate ich dir hier:
Formschön
Regel Nummer 1: Strukturiere deine Silhouette. Ein langes, hängendes Kleid ist wenig schmeichelhaft, weil es nichts von deiner Figur zeigt. Am einfachsten und schönsten geht das mit einem Taillengürtel. Ob schmal, ob breit, ob farblich mit Outfit verschmelzend oder als Kontrast, die optische Linie in deiner Körpermitte zaubert feminine Konturen. Dieser Tipp gilt auch für deinen Mantel, den du darüber trägst.
Drüber und drunter
Winter bedeutet kalte Temperaturen, sprich du brauchst etwas, das du über dein Kleid tragen und stylen kannst. Auch wenn gerne in kurzen Jacken unterwegs bist, ein mindestens knielanger Mantel verleiht deinem Outfit dieses elegante Element und unterstreicht deine Kurven. Wähle einen taillierten Mantel mit breitem Revers, um diesen Effekt zu verstärken. Eine Jacke verdeckt deine Mitte und lässt, gemeinsam mit dem weiten Rock, deine Körperform kastig erscheinen. Also hülle dich lieber in dein Lieblingsmäntelchen!
Dress-Coat
Viele Style-Ratgeber – und das sind bestimmt solche, die Kate Middleton befolgt oder befolgen muss – sagen dir, dass Kleid- und Mantellänge unbedingt gleich sein müssen beziehungsweise das Kleid nicht unter dem Mantel hervor schauen darf. Ich finde diese Art von Layering-Look gerade spannend, da sie dem Outfit eine weitere Dimension verleiht. Wichtig ist nur, dass es nicht aussieht, als spitze dein Rock unbeabsichtigt unter dem Mantelsaum hervor. Er darf also ruhig gute 10 Zentimeter länger sein als deine wärmende Hülle.
Um Längen
Bei jedem Look, der etwas ins Walla-walla abzudriften droht, empfehle ich hohe Schuhe dazu. Sie strecken optisch und machen dein Outfit umso mehr sophisticated. Ich habe hier ein Paar Overknee-Stiefel zu meinem Kleid kombiniert, denn sie lassen den Look nicht nur schick und schmeichelhaft wirken, sondern halten mich genauso schön warm.
Klein beigegeben
Das Stichwort Eleganz fiel in diesem Post schon des Öfteren. Natürlich sollen auch unsere Accessoires in diese Kategorie fallen. Statt der großen Tote Bag passt zur Kleid-Mantel-Kombi eine kleine, schicke Handtasche, ob als Crossbody oder auch mit Henkel. Um den Körper getragen wirkt sie etwas aktueller, während ein Tragegriff ein leichtes Vintage-Element mitbringt. Du entscheidest!
Stilvolle Details
Als krönenden Abschluss liebe ich zu meinen Winter-Outfits ein Paar feine Handschuhe, zum Beispiel in Strick oder Leder. Auch sie geben dem Look eine gewisse Extravaganz mit einem Touch Vintage und lassen ihn umso mehr ladylike, doch trotzdem modern wirken. Am schönsten passen Handschuhe in einer Kontrastfarbe, vielleicht sogar auf deine Stiefel oder Handtasche abgestimmt.

…and look super elegant! A midi or maxi length dress in cold weather will not only keep you warm, but will also create a proper fashion statement, if styled correctly. The secret is to cleverly balance out the volume and add some exciting details to the look. Here are my style tips:
Get into shape
Rule number 1: Structure your silhouette. While a long, hanging dress isn’t very flattering because it hides your figure, you can easily add shape by cinching yourself in with a waist belt. Whether dainty or broad, in a contrast color or in the same color palette, a visual line around your midriff will create a beautiful feminine silhouette. This tip will work for your outerwear as well!
Optimal outerwear
Winter means cold temperatures, so you’re going to need something to wear (and style) over your dress. Even though short jackets may be your thing, a coat which comes down to at least knee length will grant your look an element of elegance and emphasize your curves. Opt for a fitted coat with broad lepels to reinforce this effect. On the contrary, a short jacket will cover your waist and in combination with the wide skirt, make your figure appear quite boxy.
Dress coat
A lot of style guides – and I’m convinced these are what Kate Middleton would follow or has to follow – will tell you to absolutely avoid having your dress poke out from under your coat and that your coat and dress always have to be the same length. I think this kind of layering is what makes the whole combination interesting, adding another dimension to the outfit. However, it should look like an intended style feature, so pick a dress whose skirt is at least 10 centimeters longer than your outerwear instead of having it poke out of your coat from time to time because it’s only ever so slightly longer – the latter is not a good look!
Heightened
With every look primarily including wide, loose fitting garments I recommend wearing heels. They’ll add a few inches to your height and make your outfit so chic and sophisticated! I combined a pair of over the knee boots with my dress here, as they are such an elegant choice of footwear and keep my snuggly warm at the same time.
It’s the little things
I’ve talked about elegance in most of today’s post, and of course our accessories are supposed to match our polished style. So instead of grabbing a big tote bag, choose a chic little handbag to go with your dress and coat combo. Wear it cross body for a more modern look, or go for a top handle bag to add a light vintage touch to your outfit. You decide!
Like a glove
As finishing touches, I like to wear a pair of delicate gloves with my winter outfit. Whether they’re knitted or made of leather, they’ll contribute to a look’s extravagance, add a little bit of vintage chic as well, and make it more ladylike while keeping it contemporary. Gloves in a contrast color will work nicely with your look. Maybe you even feel like matching them to your boots or bag?
