Klar ist der Name ein Stück weit Programm: Die Form des Rocks, der kurz und mit gestärkten Falten getragen wird, stammt aus dem Tennissport. Vom Court schwappte die Rockform in die allgemeine Athleisure-Welle der vergangenen Monaten. 2020 war das Jahr des Sporty & Comfy Chic, Jogginghosen wurden im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes salonfähig und “bequem” war in der Mode das Buzzword schlechthin. Wer trotzdem Lust auf feminin-schicke Outfits hatte, griff zum Tennisrock. Das war die große Stunde von viralen Marken wie Halara, die den Rocktrend als ultra sportlichen Skort aufgriffen. 2021 sehen wir die plissierten Miniröcke auch in anderen als der traditionellen Tennisfarbe Weiß und in edleren Materialien wie Chiffon oder Wolle statt Funktionsfasern.

Na, was sagst du? Grundsätzlich wird aus jeder Kombination ein Look, aber alle Optionen außer C versprühen sportlich-lässiges Flair. Auf Instagram liebe ich die mühelosen Outfits mit dickem Pullover oder Sweatshirt zum Tennisrock, die sicher sehr gemütlich sind, gleichzeitig würde ich einen solchen “Frisch vom Sport”-Look nur tragen, wenn ich wirklich vom Sport komme. Die Kombi mit Pullunder sieht auf Insta so chic aus und kann sehr elegant und preppy wirken. Aber du kennst mich, ich kann mädchenhafter Mode nicht widerstehen, deshalb ist die einzig richtige Antwort C! Eine Bluse ohne Kragen, aus fließendem Stoff mit einer Schluppe, Ballonärmeln oder Rüschendetails passt perfekt zum kurzen Plisseerock, denn beide Teile sind einfach Klassiker.

Die gute Nachricht ist: A-D ist richtig! Der kurze Rock setzt deine Beine in Szene, egal welches Schuhwerk du dazu trägst. Absätze strecken optisch und besonders Overknee-Stiefel wirken extra feminin. Die angesagten flachen Stiefel mit dicker Sohle sind mir persönlich zu klobig für den feinen Faltenrock. Was ich stattdessen für bequeme Alltags-Looks liebe, sind flache Schnürstiefeletten, die mit einem Tennisrock ebenfalls toll aussehen und sich durch die Schnürung auch in einem klassischen Stil gut machen. Bonuspunkte gibt es für helle Ankle Boots mit kleinem Absatz und Schnürung, die an Schlittschuhe erinnern – und wer wäre nicht gerne die Prinzessin auf dem Eis?

Falls du auf B getippt hast, probier es lieber noch einmal. Der grob gestrickte Kuschelpulli hält zweifelsohne warm, ist aber stylemäßig keine gute Idee, weil deine Silhouette darin untergeht. Antwort C ist es ebenfalls nicht: Unter einem langen Mantel kommt dein Outfit überhaupt nicht zur Geltung. Mit A, der Strumpfhose, kannst du je nach Wetter variieren und wahlweise zur feinen, zur blickdichten oder zur wärmenden Wollstrumpfhose greifen. Helle Farben und monochrome Muster auf den Beinkleidern liegen derzeit im Trend und machen deinen ganzen Look spannender. Und last but not least der Geheimtipp D: Niemand wird es merken, wenn du dich mit einer kurzen Shorts unter dem Tennisrock warm hältst. Außerdem sorgt sie für extra Sicherheit.
Klar ist: Der Tennisrock in Minilänge ist nichts für richtig kalte Tage, aber mit ein paar Tricks kreierst du damit für den Herbst stylishe und warme Outfits.

Of course it’s a speaking name: the skirt’s features like a mini length and starched pleats originate in tennis. From the court, the skirt became part of the general athleisure movement in the past months. 2020 was the year of the comfy and sporty chic, joggers were worn everywhere and with everything, “comfort” was the key word when it came to fashion. If however you wanted to wear something feminine and rather polished, a tennis skirt was a sporty yet fashionable choice. Brands like Halara that made the trend into a super casual skort went viral on Tiktok. 2021 trends brought us updated versions of the pleated mini skirt in other colours than the traditional tennis court white and more premium materials like chiffon or wool.

My favorite accounts to look at for feminine and elegant outfits are Molly, Emily and of course Freddy. If you’re looking for something special and want to create a high-class, super fashionable look, I can only recommend a Gossip Girl marathon. You just can’t beat Blair's outfits in terms of elegance and sense of style.

A pleated mini skirt is the talking piece in your look. What are you wearing with it?
A) A comfy knit jumper

Well, what did you choose? Generally speaking all these combinations would work just fine, but all options except C will give you more of a sporty and casual vibe. I love to look at those effortless outfits featuring a chunky sweatshirt or an oversized sweater combined with a tennis skirt on Instagram and I believe they’re really comfortable, but for me, they’re something I’d wear if I went home from the gym and wanted to look cute. I also adore sweater vests paired with mini skirts because they look so chic and preppy, but you know me, I’m a sucker for girly fashion! That’s why the only right answer here is C. An elegant blouse without a collar, made of flowy fabric, with a pussy bow, voluminous sleeves or ruffled details is the perfect match for a short skirt with pleats, because both pieces are just so classic.

Good news: all answers are correct! A mini skirt will accentuate your legs no matter which shoes you’re wearing. Heeled boots do give you a height boost and especially over the knee boots will add an extra feminine vibe to your look. While heels are not a must, I personally think the trendy platform boots are too chunky to wear with a fine pleated skirt. As an alternative for easy-to-style everyday looks I love flat lace-up boots that work well in a tennis skirt outfit due to the classic lacing detail. Bonus points for light coloured, lace-up ankle boots with a little block heel – for me, they’re the epitome of elegant footwear plus they remind me of ice skates and therefore go really well with a mini skirt.

How do you keep warm wearing a pleated mini skirt in autumn while showing your style at the same time?

If your guess was B, try again. Your favourite jumper will undoubtedly keep you warm, but it’s not a good idea style wise as it completely hides your silhouette. Answer C isn’t the perfect choice, either as it will cover most of your outfit. Instead, I recommend to pair a short skirt with tights that you can select based on the weather forecast and go for thin, opaque, or warm wool ones. Light colours like white or cream and monochrome patterns such as floral ones or the famous GG style are among this year’s tights trends and will add that little extra something to your look. Last but not least, D is a real insider tip: nobody will know if you wear a pair of shorts under your skirt for extra warmth and security.
It’s obvious that a tennis skirt isn’t the right choice for really cold days, but with these little hacks, you can wear it with autumn outfits that are both stylish and warm.
