Herbst-Trends 2021: Dos and Don‘ts für einen feminin-eleganten Stil

Goldenes Licht, zarte Wärme, kühle Brise: der Herbst steht vor der Tür. Auch wenn ich noch an Eiskaffee und Badesee hänge, auf die kommende Mode habe ich schon mächtig Lust! Die Trends sind vorsichtig, bleiben teils beim Klassiker oder besinnen sich auf bereits Dagewesenes – typisch für die unsicheren Zeiten mit wirtschaftlichem Abschwung und globalen Krisen, in denen wir leben. Manches ist auch neu und unerwartet, ein kleiner Ausbruch aus dem Gleich der Tage, die gefühlt seit anderthalb Jahren dahinfließen.
Wie bei jedem Saisonwechsel helfe ich dir durch den Trend-Dschungel. Die Kreditkarte vor zu viel Beanspruchung zu schützen und sich die Lust auf die Teile zu erhalten, die du jetzt kaufst, klappt am besten, wenn wir in langlebige und zeitlose Trends investieren. Zeitlose Trends? Ja, gibt’s! Und natürlich, wenn die Neuzugänge zum persönlichen Stil passen. Du liebst es elegant, feminin und klassisch, dann sind diese Trends für dich.
Aber: Das sind Empfehlungen, keine Regeln. Mit dem richtigen Styling können auch unvermutete Trends zu deinem persönlichen Stil passen. Wie’s geht, verrate ich bei den Don’ts.
Dos
Anzüge. Strukturiert und im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes angezogen schaffen Blazer und Co. seit einiger Zeit den Gegenpol zur Jogginghose. Weite Hosen, gerne mit Bügelfalte, im Palazzo- oder Marlene-Schnitt, sind der Hosentrend der Saison. Blazer sind ein Dauerbrenner, neu hinzu kommt der todschicke Anzugmantel für den Herbst.
Statement-Strick. Bahnbrechend wie Blümchenmuster im Frühling, geht Strick natürlich immer. Diese Saison sehen wir ihn mit Design-Details wie Zopfmuster, voluminösen Ärmeln oder betonten Schultern. Mit den beiden letzteren lässt sich die Silhouette wunderbar unterstreichen. In Kombi mit dem Anzug-Trends und Heels wird der Kuschelpulli elegant.
Glattleder-Stiefel. Schnittige, kniehohe Stiefel mit Absatz und spitzer oder leicht eckiger Spitze erobern im Herbst die Gehsteige. Ein Trend, der eigentlich nie weg war. Kombiniere sie zum Beispiel zu kurzen oder mittellangen Kleidern oder auch mit Leggings und einem kuscheligen Pullover.
Midiröcke. Je pessimistischer die ökonomischen Aussichten, umso länger die Röcke. Verrückt, oder? Midiröcke sind ebenfalls das Paradeexemplar des klassischen Trends, der Inbegriff von Femininität und du hast hundertprozentig einen im Schrank hängen. Plissiert und in herbstlichen Erdtönen stylst du damit endlos viele OOTDs.
Oma-Blümchen. Kleinteilige Blumenmuster in etwas verwaschenen, gedeckten Farben ist die florale Wahl für die kühle Jahreszeit. Ein Hauch von Kitsch darf bei diesem Trend dabei sein, etwa wenn die Blüten auf dem glänzenden, im 17. Jahrhundert der letzt Schrei gewesenen Material Chintz auftauchen.
Bequemlichkeit. Weiterhin gilt: Tragekomfort, bitte! Sahen wir vergangene Saison noch Jogginghosen, heißt das Stichwort jetzt “comfy couture”. Fließende Schnitte und kuschelige Materialien (Faux Fur!), vor allem bei Jacken und Mänteln, alles hochwertig und farblich minimalistisch kombiniert. Ich finde, dieser Trend funktioniert hervorragend mit den erwähnten Stoffhosen oder Midiröcken!
Kleines Schwarzes. Trendklassiker oder Classic-Trend? Eins ist sicher: es hängt bei dir im Schrank! Cocos Erfindung kommt jetzt als kurzes, körperbetontes Modell wieder. Dazu passen: der Anzugmantel oder auch ein Statement-Cardigan plus schicke Stiefel.
Gesättigte Farben. Kräftige Töne bestimmen die Farbpalette, die sich auf Komplementär- und Sekundärfarben wie etwa Royalblau, Senfgelb oder Rostrot konzentriert. Kombiniere sie mit architektonischen Formen oder trage sie als All-over-Look für einen eleganten Stil.
Party (not so) hard. Hier fasse ich mehrere Trends zusammen: Roaring 20s Style, Glitzer & Pailletten, die dieses Jahr hochgeschlossen statt als knappes Partyoutfit daherkommen, und die Kombi aus Feier- und Sofa-Outfit, die wir auf den Laufstegen gesehen haben. Besitzt du ein Paillettenteil, trage es für den Herbst/Winter-Style 2021 mit Strick oder einer einfachen weißen Bluse.
Après Ski. Moment, wie passt der Ballermann am Skihügel zu einem klassisch-chicen Look? Denke mehr in Richtung Aspen oder St. Moritz: Ski-inspirierte Kleidungsstücke wie Norweger-Pulli oder Felltasche ja, aber lieber homöopathisch dosiert statt all-over. Ich würde sie zu Lederleggings, Wollröcken oder Midikleidern kombinieren.
Don’ts
Gen Z-Mode. Super kurze Kleider, Mico-Miniröcke, bunter Schmuck mit Glas- und Plastikperlen und Schlabber-Jeans sind ein witziger Trend, aber nicht gekommen, um zu bleiben. Hier lasse ich komplett die Finger davon.
XXL-Taschen. Schauen auf dem Laufsteg cool aus, sind im wahren Leben genau wie Micro-Bags absolut unpraktisch. Bügeltaschen und Messenger Bags sind weitere Taschentrends, die du auch über die Saison hinaus tragen kannst.
Schlecht-Wetter-Look. Mehrere Sub-Trends passen hierzu: die flachen, klobigen Gummistiefel, die ich an anderen zugegebenermaßen super cool finde, Steppjacken und jede Menge Lagen ergeben ein praktisches Outfit, das nicht unbedingt schick ist – aber schick werden kann. Mit klassischen Gummistiefeln und einer taillierten, nicht zu bauschigen Jacke, garniert mit einem gemusterten Seidenschal und einer hochwertigen Tasche, wird daraus ein eleganter “English Countryside”-Look.
Handarbeit. Gehäkelte und Patchwork-Teile sind zu sehr Statement, als dass sie länger als diesen Herbst angesagt sein werden. Persönlich finde ich auch, dass sie echt schwierig zu kombinieren sind.
Cutouts. Gut angezogen zu sein heißt für mich, dass die Kleidung zur Saison passt. Cutouts hingegen sind für mich ein typisches Frühlings-/Sommer-Detail. Das kommt ein bisschen auf die Platzierung an – an der Taille etwa wären sie nichts für mich, einen hochwertigen Feinstrickpullover mit Cutouts am Ausschnitt könnte ich mir vorstellen.
Logos und Muster. All-over Logo-Prints und verrückte Muster waren ein großes Thema auf den Runways. Ich finde ein einzelnes gemustertes Piece fügt sich gut in einen sonst cleanen Look ein, daher empfehle ich, auch diesen Trend sparsam einzusetzen. Logos von Kopf bis Fuß wirken schnell aufmerksamkeitsheischend.

Autumn trends 2021 that fit an elegant and feminine style

Golden light, delicate warmth, a cool breeze: fall is just around the corner. Even though I’m mentally still at the beach with an iced coffee in my hand, I’m also really excited about autumn fashion. Some trends are tentative or reference designs from the past – both typical for the trying times we’re living in which feature economic downswing and global crises. Some trends, however, are fresh and unexpected, a little escape from how similar the days have felt for the last one and a half years. As usual, I’m helping you through the trend jungle with every change of seasons. Our mission is clear: to participate in trends while not wanting to spend too much money on items we can only wear for the season. The solution is simple: invest in high quality, timeless items. Timeless trends? Yes, those exist! Of course you also want your new pieces to match your personal style as this is another reason to keep reaching for them. If your style – like mine – is elegant, feminine, and classy, these fall fashion trends are for you.
But remember: these aren’t rules, they’re recommendations. When styled correctly, aka in line with your body type and unique style, even unexpected trends will become classics in your wardrobe. I’m sharing some ideas on how to manage this when talking about the don’ts.
Dos
Tailoring. Structured and smart, power suits have become the fashionable counterpart to sweats and loungewear. Wide-leg trousers, for example in a palazzo fit or featuring a front crease, are the one big trouser trend for the autumn season. Blazers of course are a perennial, while this fall the elegant suit coat joins the tailoring department as a new, strong contender for dressing smart.
Statement knits. Groundbreaking like florals in spring, knits are one of these timeless trends, however, we see slight alterations in their design each year. Right now, details like cable knits, voluminous sleeves, and accentuated shoulders are en vogue. The last two are perfect to accentuate a feminine silhouette. To make your knit look a tad more elegant, combine it with the tailoring trend and heels.
Smooth leather boots. Sleek, knee-high boots with a heel and a pointy or slightly square-shaped toe have conquered the runways – another trend that has never been really gone. Pair them for example with short or midi-length dresses, or leggings and a chunky knit.
Midi skirts. The more downbeat the economic perspectives, the longer the hem lines. Crazy, isn’t it? Anyway, midi skirts are the prime example of a classic trend, the epitome of femininity, and I’m sure you have one hanging in your wardrobe. Opt for a skirt with pleats in autumnal earthy colors to style an endless number of elegant OOTDs.
Granny flowers. Small floral patterns in washed-out, muted colors are the feminine print of choice for the cool season. A touch of kitsch is a deliberate part of this trend – on the runway, we saw the frumpish pattern on chintz, a shiny material that was really on trend in the 17th century because people wanted to copy the silk garments worn by royalty.
Comfort is key. We still crave comfortable clothes like never before! However, whereas last season sweatpants qualified as valid fashion, our catchphrase now is “comfy couture”. Floaty cuts and cozy materials like faux fur that we mostly saw in outerwear, appearing in monochrome, minimalistic combinations are key to this trend. I think this style works perfectly with tailored trousers or midi skirts!
Little black dress. Trend classic or classic trend? In any case, you can count on one thing: you already own a black dress! This autumn, Coco’s invention comes around as a short, figure-hugging variation. Wear it with a suit coat or maybe a statement cardigan and chic boots.
Saturated colors. Powerful shades dominate the color palette, even though it’s mostly about complementary and secondary colors like royal blue, mustard yellow, and rust, so the hues appear skewed and a little off. They’ll look great in architectural silhouettes or as an all-over look, achieving an elegant look.
Party (not so) hard. Several trends tick this box: the roaring 20s style, glitter and sequins on proper, covered-up clothes rather than short party dresses, and an interesting combination of going-out and staying-in outfits. So if you already own a sequined garment, which are a classic in themselves, style it with a knit or a simple white shirt for autumn/winter 2021.
Slope style. Wait, how does the après ski look fit a classic and chic style? If you think Aspen or St Moritz, ski inspired garments like patterned knit sweaters or faux fur bags are quite striking, so I like to use them as a single talking piece in a look, but won’t wear this style all-over. I think the slope-inspired items will go nicely with leather leggings, wool skirts, or midi dresses.
Don’ts
Gen Z fashion. Super short dresses, micro mini skirts, colorful jewelry with glass and plastic beads, and baggy jeans are a fun trend, but I don’t believe they’re here to stay. I’m certainly keeping my distance from this trend!
XXL bags. They look cool on the runway, but in real life they’re as impractical as micro bags. Frame bags and messenger bags are other current accessories trends that you’ll keep wearing even after the season’s over.
Bad weather looks. This is another roundup of trends: flat, chunky rubber boots (which I have to admit look so cool on everyone on Instagram), puffer jackets, and excessive layering equal a practical outfit that isn’t necessarily chic – but it can become chic. I’d like to go with classic wellies and a fitted, slim jacket, paired with a patterned silk scarf and a high quality bag to create an elegant English countryside look.
Handmade. Artisanal pieces like crochet or patchwork garments are a real statement if you like this kind of style, though I don’t think they will be en vogue for longer than one season. And I find them really hard to style!
Cutouts. A classic style for me means clothes that match the current season and cutouts for me are more of a spring/summer detail. However, they can work for an autumn outfit if they’re in the right places. For example, a high quality fine knit with cutouts on the neckline can be an eyecatcher, whereas I wouldn’t choose an autumnal garment with cutouts in the waist area.
Logomania and patterns. All-over logo prints and unusual, crazy patterns were a big thing on the runways. To keep your look classy, wear this trend one piece at a time with an otherwise simple and clean look or just go for one patterned accessory. Logos from head to toe can be a bit tacky and too much.
