There’s something about snow that evokes a child-like joy for me; I love walking around in freshly fallen snow when everything is white, almost like covered in frosting, and my steps are muted by the thick layer on the ground. The only problem is that snow is cold, and I’m quickly transforming into a living icicle when out and about. Sometimes I miss the snowsuits from my childhood because they kept you snuggly warm – however, they may not be the most fashionable pieces to experience the snow. Stylish on the outside, warm on the inside
Find pieces that can do both! For example, I have a really, really warm ski jacket that I never wear, because when I bought it I thought turquoise was my color – it’s not. The reason why I don’t reach for it anymore simply is that it doesn’t go with my style and the rest of my wardrobe, that’s why I would recommend that even when shopping for more functional garments, pay attention to if they suit your style or not. On the other hand, this pair of leather leggings from Topshop looks super chic while being lined and therefore keeping me nice and toasty. I love it so much that I bought it in white, too. Don’t sacrifice safety for style
I used to wear any kind of boot out and about in winter, even if it snowed or when the streets were icy and slippery, and I had to learn the hard way. Luckily, I didn’t hurt myself seriously by slipping and falling! Since then, I firmly believe in snow boots, moreover, because rule number 1 applies here, too: there are so many beautiful boots which keep you warm and safe in the snow! If you’ve read my blog for some time, you know that I love my textures, and I especially adore wearing seasonal materials, because they’re even more special as you can’t style them all year round. In winter, besides knitwear and leather, faux fur is on top of my list of fabrics to go for. I find that the snuggly material elevates any winter look, adding a certain chic to it, and at the same time, makes things super cozy! That’s why no snow look in my opinion is complete without it.
From hat to toe
While I’ve learned today that it’s actually a misconception that we lose a large percentage of our body warmth through our head, this might be true when our scalp is the only uncovered part of our body. Plus from the fashion point of view, it would mean unused style potential not crowning your look with a fashionable headpiece! Pompom hats are my favorites for snowy days. Opt for a style lined with fleece for extra warmth for your ears. If it’s not snowing or raining, knitted headbands are equally cute.

Unterwegs in Schnee und Eis, aber stylish!
Schnee hat etwas, das in mir eine kindliche Freude hervorruft. Ich liebe es, durch den frisch gefallenen Schnee zu stapfen, wenn alles weiß ist, ganz so, als sei die Welt in Zuckerguß getaucht, und die dicke Decke auf dem Boden meine Schritte dämpft. Das einzige Problem: Schnee ist kalt, und draußen werde ich bei Minusgraden zum bibbernden Eiszapfen. Manchmal vermisse ich die Schneeanzüge aus meiner Kindheit, weil einem darin immer warm war – aber sie sind sicher nicht die stilvollste Wahl für Winterwetter. Außen stylish, innen warm
Suche Teile, die beides können! Ich besitze zum Beispiel eine ultrawarme Skijacke, die ich aber nie trage, weil sie türkis ist. Beim Kauf dachte ich noch, das wäre genau meine Farbe – ist es nicht – und da sie nur sehr schwierig mit anderen Pieces aus meiner Wintergarderobe zu kombinieren ist, greife ich so gut wie nie dazu. Von daher achte auch bei eher funktionellen Klamotten darauf, dass sie mühelos mit deinem persönlichen Stil harmonieren.
Perfektes Gegenbeispiel ist meine Kunstleder-Leggings von Topshop, die nicht nur schick aussieht, sondern durch das Fleece-Futter auch warm hält und super angenehm zu tragen ist. Ich mag sie sogar so sehr, dass ich sie zusätzlich in weiß gekauft habe. Den Outfit-Post dazu findest du hier!
Sicherheit geht vor Stil
Früher habe ich im Winter sogar bei Schnee und vereisten, rutschigen Straßen oft irgendwelche Stiefel ohne Profil und Futter getragen, weil sie besser aussahen als meine gefütterten Winterstiefel. Ausrutschen und auch mal hinfallen war da vorprogrammiert; ich habe mir aber zum Glück nie ernsthaft weh getan. Seitdem setze ich nur noch auf richtige Schneestiefel, insbesondere weil hier Regel 1 ebenfalls gilt: es gibt auch schöne Winterstiefel, mit Futter und Profil. Als kleine Inspiration sind hier meine drei Lieblingspaare:

Falls du meinen Blog schon eine Weile liest, ist dir vielleicht aufgefallen, dass ich Materialmixe mag. Vor allem saisonale Stoffe haben es mir angetan, weil man die eben nicht das ganze Jahr über tragen kann. Neben Strick und Leder steht Kunstfell ganz oben auf meiner Liste winterlicher Materialien. Der kuschelige Stoff lässt jeden Winter-Look schicker wirken und bringt gleichzeitig jede Menge Punkte auf der Kuschel-Skala. Genau deswegen ist für mich kein Schnee-Outfit ohne Faux Fur komplett.
Dem Ganzen die Mütze aufsetzen
Zwar habe ich heute gelernt, dass es eigentlich ein Irrglaube ist, dass wir einen großen Anteil unserer Körperwärme über den Kopf verlieren; es kann aber stimmen, wenn er die einzige nicht warm eingepackte Stelle ist. Aus Fashion-Sicht wäre es auch verschenktes Style-Potenzial, deinen Winter-Look nicht mit einer schicken Kopfbedeckung zu krönen. Bommelmützen sind mein absoluter Favorit für Schneetage, am besten mit Fleecefutter für extra muckelige Ohren. Und wenn es nicht schneit oder regnet, sehen gestrickte Stirnbänder auch süß aus.
