5 Mode-Geheimtipps für mehr Abwechslung im Kleiderschrank

Wie geht es dir, wenn auf der Straße jemanden siehst, der das Gleiche trägt wie du? Stört es dich? Fühlst du dich in deinem Modegeschmack bestätigt? Vielleicht ist es dieselbe H&M-Jeans, die du schon letzte Woche an drei anderen Frauen gesehen hast und du denkst dir: Sollte ich mal woanders einkaufen gehen? Versteh mich nicht falsch: ich liebe das große schwedische Modehaus und würde jederzeit dort shoppen. Manchmal darf es aber Abwechslung sein, eine Marke, die du noch nie getragen hast, ein Laden, der überraschend andere Designs bietet, Teile, die du noch an niemandem in deinem Umfeld gesehen hast. Das Gute ist: dafür musst du nicht stundenlang stöbern, manches liegt ziemlich nah. Entdecke fünf Modemarken abseits vom Mainstream:
Scandi Chic: Gestuz
Gestuz* ist ein junges, 2007 gegründetes dänisches Modelabel, das mein Herz mit seinen ungewöhnlichen Schnitten und Formen erobert hat. Entdeckt in einer auf nordische Marken spezialisierten Boutique in der Nähe meiner Heimat, haben mich sein typisch skandinavische Minimalismus und die hohe Qualität der Stücke angesprochen. Gestuz ist auf eine zurückhaltende Art und Weise auffällig, elegant und gleichzeitig bequem, modisch und trendy, aber dabei absolut erwachsen. Kurz gesagt: die Teile sind im Büro, aber auch im Alltag wunderbar tragbar.
Influencer approved: Strathberry
Geheim ist dieser Geheimtipp auf der Insel zwar nicht mehr, dafür in Deutschland umso mehr – die Rede ist von Strathberry. Die schottische Marke für Handtaschen und Lederwaren kennt man im Vereinigten Königreich durch ihre 2018er Kollektion mit Victoria von Inthefrow. Hierzulande ernte ich jedes Mal, wenn ich meine East/West Bag spazieren trage, neugierige Blicke. Dem Betrachter ist klar, dass es eine hochwertige Tasche ist, aber eben keiner der Designer-Entwürfe, die man doch mal öfter auf der Straße sieht. Genau das schätze ich an der Marke, ebenso wie die makellose Qualität der Handtaschen, die in Spanien handgefertigt werden und damit verbunden das absolut faire Preisschild. Psst: auch Meghan Markle ist begeistert von diesem Hidden Gem aus Schottland!
Vor meiner Haustür: Saskia Diez
Manchmal liegt das Gute so nah. Wie der Schmuck von Saskia Diez, den ich zuerst auf Farfetch gesehen habe, mir die Markenbeschreibung durchlas und feststellte, dass die Schmuckdesignerin in München sitzt und hier ebenfalls einen kleinen Showroom betreibt. Ihre Entwürfe sind minimalistisch, gleichzeitig in ihrer schlichten Eleganz auffällig und stechen heraus. Besonders mit Perlen kreiert sie wunderschön simple Schmuckstücke, die lokal im Münchner Umland von Hand aus recycelten Materialien gefertigt werden. Den Ring werde ich als Teil meines Brautschmucks tragen, aber das hält mich nicht davon ab, ihn auch im Alltag als Hingucker zu allen möglichen Outfits zu kombinieren.
Funktional und fabelhaft: Uniqlo
Oft kaufe ich nicht bei Uniqlo, dafür lohnt es sich jedes Mal. Der “japanische H&M” bietet hochwertige, funktionale Basics, die in gedeckten Farben und ohne viel Schnickschnack daherkommen. Natürliche Materialien wie Wolle, Leinen oder Baumwolle dominieren vor Polyester, das man von anderen Modeketten kennt, und dafür ist Uniqlo nicht sehr viel teurer. Die Entwürfe sind bequem, unkompliziert und zeitlos. Häufig besitzen sie eine funktionale Komponente; so hat der Japaner beispielsweise Kleidung mit UV-Schutz im Angebot, aber auch superleichte Daunenjacken oder Thermo-Unterwäsche, die mir im Winter ein treuer Begleiter ist. Mein Verlobter ist ein großer Fan der Sonderkollektionen, die Uniqlo regelmäßig mit japanischen Franchises wie Pokémon oder Nintendo herausbringt.
Der Joker: TK Maxx
Im engeren Sinn kein verstecktes Juwel, aber ich konnte diesen Post nicht ohne meinen geliebten TK Maxx schreiben. Gerade wenn es darum geht, Stücke zu finden, die eben nicht jeder trägt, lohnt es sich dort auf Schatzsuche zu gehen. Was nicht funktioniert ist, mit einer konkreten Vorstellung in den Laden zu gehen. Du findest dort keine Klamotten, sie finden dich! Mich haben zum Beispiel eine elegante YSL-Dupe Bag gefunden, ein kuscheliger Winterponcho und ein vielseitig kombinierbarer Midirock. Besonders gerne kaufe ich dort meine Sportsachen ein. Außerdem gibt es bei der Kette aus England trendige Home-Artikel, Geschenkideen und Schreibwaren. Jetzt klinge ich wie ein Werbeprospekt, doch ich schätze TK Maxx als Schatzkammer für versteckte Fashion-Juwelen sehr!

How do you feel when you see someone on the street wearing the same piece of clothing as you? Do you mind? Do you feel confirmed in your sense of fashion? Maybe it's the same H&M jeans that you saw on three other women last week and you think to yourself: Should I maybe shop somewhere else? Don't get me wrong: I love the big Swedish fashion house and would buy their designs anytime. But sometimes change is welcome, like a brand that you have never worn before, a shop that offers surprisingly different designs, items that you have never seen on anyone else around you. The good news is, you don't have to spend hours searching nor look very far – sometimes new things are right under your nose. Discover five fashion brands beyond the mainstream:
Scandi Chic: Gestuz
Gestuz* is a young Danish fashion label founded in 2007 that has won my heart with its unusual cuts and shapes. I discovered the brand in a boutique specializing in Scandinavian designs and was struck by its typically Nordic minimalism and the high quality of the pieces. Gestuz is eye-catching, elegant and at the same time comfortable, fashionable and trendy, but absolutely grown up. In a nutshell: their garments are wonderfully wearable in the office as well as in everyday life.
Vic’s Favorite: Strathberry
This insider tip is no longer secret in Great Britain, but even more so in other parts of the world – we are talking about Strathberry. The Scottish handbag and leather goods brand is known for its 2018 capsule collection in collaboration with Victoria from Inthefrow in the United Kingdom. In Germany, I get curious looks every time I’m strolling through the city wearing my East/West bag. People will recognize it as a high-quality bag whereas it is not one of the well-known designs from big fashion houses that you’ll spot on the streets – and Instagram – quite regularly. This is exactly what I appreciate about the brand, as well as the immaculate quality of the bags, which are handmade in Spain, and the absolutely fair price tag. On my doorstep: Saskia Diez
Trendy fashion designers in your area want to meet you! I first discovered Saskia Diez’ jewelry on Farfetch, read the brand description and found out that the jewelry designer is actually based in Munich and runs a small showroom in the city. Her designs are minimalistic, at the same time striking in their simple elegance and therefore stand out. She creates beautifully simple jewelry, using pearls in particular. Not only are her pieces made by hand locally, but also come to life from recycled materials. I will wear the ring from the pictures as part of my bridal jewelry, but that doesn't stop me from pairing it with everyday outfits as well, letting it shine as a simple but effective eye-catcher to elevate my looks.
Functional and fabulous: Uniqlo
I don't often buy from Uniqlo, but when I do, it's always worth it. The so-called “Japanese H&M” offers high-quality, functional basics that come in muted colors and with minimal features. Natural materials such as wool, linen or cotton dominate over polyester, which other highstreet brands tend to overuse, and Uniqlo does not even charge significantly more for their pieces. Their designs are comfortable, straightforward and timeless. They often have a functional component; for example, the Japanese brand offers with UV protection as well as super-light down jackets or thermal underwear, which is my loyal companion in winter. My fiancé is a big fan of the capsules collections that Uniqlo regularly releases in collaboration with Japanese franchises such as Pokémon or Nintendo.
The Joker: TK Maxx
Not a hidden gem in the narrow sense, but I couldn't write this post without my beloved TK Maxx (or TJ Maxx if you’re US based)! Especially when it comes to finding pieces that nobody else is wearing, it is worth going on a treasure hunt there. What doesn't work is going to the store with a specific idea in mind because you won't find any clothes, they will find you! I was found by an elegant YSL dupe bag, a cozy winter poncho and a versatile midi skirt, to name a few. I particularly like to buy my workout clothes and equipment at TK Maxx, but they also have trendy home items, gift ideas and stationery. Now I sound like an advertising brochure, but I really appreciate TK Maxx as a treasure trove for hidden fashion jewels!
